In the
Mediterranean are present 1,000 ports, 300,000 moorings and 1.500.000 boats, while
in Northern Europe are quite 2,000 the ports, 800,000 the moorings and 3.000.000 the number of the boats. Analyzing the situation the countries with the greater number of moorings are in first place
of Holland (220,000) and the
Great Britain (175.000). It follows immediately after the France with 370 ports and 163,000 moorings and
Spain with a number of ports and like moorings of Italy, but with a relation moorings/inhabiting determined superior to our country: 2.6 moorings every one thousand residents for
Spain against the 1.5
of Italy.
It is necessary to think that the port is not alone harbor management direct, that is to say of the moorings, maintenance, careening, supplying and direct services, but is able also to be a pole of commercial and urban attraction, a platform for the nautical industries, an impulse for the concessions to commercial enterprises (catering industry, professionals of the nautical, etc…), a tourist pole of attraction (visitors, port for the night, etc…), an events center and nautical shows, sporty, shows, publicity.
