Bristol

 The City of Bristol it is a town and a county, a district not subway and unitary authority with status of city of the South West of England, United Kingdom. It is situated on the river Avon that it marks traditionally the boundary between the county of the Gloucestershire and of the Somerset.
 The town of Brycgstow, name that in the ancient English would mean "square on the bridge", existed to the beginnings of the XI century and, under the Norman government, have built one of the most powerful castles of the south of England. In the XII century, Bristol an important port became, since it passed from there most of the traffic for Ireland. In 1247, a new bridge it was built and the town extended absorbing themselves the suburbs. In such period, Bristol became also an important manufacturing center and of construction of ships.
 In 1497, the town was the point of departure of the exploratory journey of coast it pour North America . In the XVII century, thanks to the development of the British colonies in America of the North, itself had the growth of the town and a swift expansion of the commerce, among which that of the slaves.

 During the Second world War, Bristol underwent heavy bombardments.
 The Channel of Bristol (Môr Hafren in Wales) is an immense inlet of Atlantic Ocean in correspondence of the west coast of the island of the Great Britain.
 The channel is the ideal extension of the estuary of the river Severn and it is delimited to north from the Wales, to south from the England south-west and to west from the Celtic sea. The west limit goes from the promontory of St Govan' s Head in the Pembrokeshire of the Isle of Lundy and to the promontory ofHartland Point in the Devon. The channel has a breadth that goes from 8 to 69 km and a length of about 137 km.
 The main rivers that flow in the channel of Bristol are the Severn, the Avon and the Usk.
 The channel of Bristol is characterized from the high tides that can surpass the 12 meters. The specially high tides can invert the course of the river Severn goes back the estuary.
 The channel takes the name from the town of Bristol mail on the estuary of the river Avon. Historically the port of Bristol was one of the most important of the Great Britain. With the time the harbor activity were transferred to the mouth of the ancestor and tourist the only port preserve Bristol. Along the coast Wales are situated the port of Milford Haven, Swansea, Barry, Cardiff and Newport mail on the estuary of the river Usk. On the river Severn is mail the town of Gloucester than means a channel is connected with the estuary of the river Severn and therefore with the channel.
